Cosmania Dealers Room are full of dubious products (Cosmania Review part 2)

This is part 2 of a on-going review of cosmania 2009 event, held at SM Megatrade Hall 2&3 last September 13 2009.

Every anime convention comes with sponsors. This is a must have for any event, especialy that deals with hobbies such as anime and cosplay. Cosmania typically host the common must have sponsors, like 2 rats Comic Alley and other hobbyist shops and companies that you can rely on when it comes to your anime cravings. here are the few listed sponsors for this event.

y4it maybe the closest thing to TED, but it’s the only thing we got. (y4it Day 3 part 1)

This article is in relation to y4IT day2 post.

This is the far view of the UP theater. As you can see it's a good day, no rains thou it was cloudy it is better than raining so it counts.

The day 3 was more forgiving. As i ride my way to the event, the weather was more calmer yet cloudy. The only thing that mattered to me was it wasn’t raining. That alone made a big difference, since you don’t have to worry yourself being hot, wet and clostrophobic. There was a few people in this event compared yesterdays, but it was indeed packed with people. I noticed that most of the attendees are from the provinces, clearly it seems they come from government owned universities, and these is what they called “educational” tours. I wonder to myself if these people are high school students or college students. Looks can be deceiving, but i can’t really mistake myself judging by their faces that these are high school students in their 16s. But as i see them more and more, these college students on their 2nd or 3rds. As i go with the event i realized that i’m the non-speaker there that is neither a student nor a speaker, clearly i felt that i should be attending a corporate IT event, but those event are boring and i don’t really have anything to excite about when it comes to servers and business solutions that my boss understands, but it seems its more of a work related knowledge than being fun, i don’t really have the solitary enjoyment when it comes to corporate IT, but still i find that important. Overcrowded venue is overcrowed (Y4IT Day2)

I have been yapping for quite sometime now, that I am very excited to attend the youth for IT congress that is being held at the UP Film Institute and Theater. The event started last Tuesday, and it should be going until Friday, just before the eve of Cosmania event.

DSCF0246If i haven’t told you, nor haven’t notice I work on a night shift, so after my shift ends i immediately went to UP which is not that far from to attend. surprisingly just like any other event that involves education. Many universities and high school flock to this annual event that is derived for students rather than Enterprise persons. Having attended the last year, my hopes for this event is high, granted that this is the nearest i can get to a live TED conference, which is the best educational talks on the planet, you need to cough up $6000 to attend to this.

It was a rainy day. Because of a tropical depression, it has made a very bad environment for me. Since as everybody knows, moving while raining requires dexterity and attention, because of the unnecessary moving objects, and the feeling of being sticky and wet yet hot is the worst feeling you can get.

DSCF0254Anyway my leave was just approved recently, so i wasn’t able to reserve a ticket, because there may be a chance that I won’t get one at all. anyway I went to the makeshift booth where people are gathering to get their whole sale ticket. The walk-in fee is 600, early birds get it at 450. I am really buying a premium just to attend to this event.  unlucky for me they hold off the ticket selling and resume it at 9:30. I arrive there around 7:30, since i am wet and dirty (I like the Rain because its cold, but i hate it when I’m outside), i decided to go home and change, arrived at the venue again around 10:30, it was raining and it cost me a arm and a leg  just to arrive because of the traffic, just to find out that it has exceeded the capacity of both theaters, and they are discouraging walk-ins to participate. So commuting 3 times just to attend to this event just end up wasted.

I decided not to participate on day 2 because, what i hate most is having to deal with too many people. I just bought tickets for the day 3 event to make up for it and see if there is any worth to attend to the last one. Aside from the sequence of unfortunate events I personally have some advise for people who want to attend to this event. Also I happen to discover that the transport sector (Jeep, Tricycle drivers/operators) in katipunan are greedy bastards, which i may explain next time.

I’ll do a review of the event later, for now here is the rest of what i got before i went home. I can’t embed flickr photostream so here is the link.
