I have been yapping for quite sometime now, that I am very excited to attend the youth for IT congress that is being held at the UP Film Institute and Theater. The event started last Tuesday, and it should be going until Friday, just before the eve of Cosmania event.
If i haven’t told you, nor haven’t notice I work on a night shift, so after my shift ends i immediately went to UP which is not that far from to attend. surprisingly just like any other event that involves education. Many universities and high school flock to this annual event that is derived for students rather than Enterprise persons. Having attended the last year, my hopes for this event is high, granted that this is the nearest i can get to a live TED conference, which is the best educational talks on the planet, you need to cough up $6000 to attend to this.
It was a rainy day. Because of a tropical depression, it has made a very bad environment for me. Since as everybody knows, moving while raining requires dexterity and attention, because of the unnecessary moving objects, and the feeling of being sticky and wet yet hot is the worst feeling you can get.
Anyway my leave was just approved recently, so i wasn’t able to reserve a ticket, because there may be a chance that I won’t get one at all. anyway I went to the makeshift booth where people are gathering to get their whole sale ticket. The walk-in fee is 600, early birds get it at 450. I am really buying a premium just to attend to this event. unlucky for me they hold off the ticket selling and resume it at 9:30. I arrive there around 7:30, since i am wet and dirty (I like the Rain because its cold, but i hate it when I’m outside), i decided to go home and change, arrived at the venue again around 10:30, it was raining and it cost me a arm and a leg just to arrive because of the traffic, just to find out that it has exceeded the capacity of both theaters, and they are discouraging walk-ins to participate. So commuting 3 times just to attend to this event just end up wasted.
I decided not to participate on day 2 because, what i hate most is having to deal with too many people. I just bought tickets for the day 3 event to make up for it and see if there is any worth to attend to the last one. Aside from the sequence of unfortunate events I personally have some advise for people who want to attend to this event. Also I happen to discover that the transport sector (Jeep, Tricycle drivers/operators) in katipunan are greedy bastards, which i may explain next time.
I’ll do a review of the event later, for now here is the rest of what i got before i went home. I can’t embed flickr photostream so here is the link.
